In support of our mission to improve truck safety on our nation’s highways, Proactive Transportation Safety Services offers FMCSR training materials and consulting designed to help carriers familiarize themselves with the rules and regulations specific to them. The training program also addresses the proper response in the case of a hazmat emergency, and other related topics.
Our comprehensive training, which emphasizes safety and promotes driving efficiency, will result in lives saved, reductions in fuel consumption and emissions, vehicle maintenance cost reductions, and industry-wide performance improvements.
FMCSR Training requires a carrier to maintain compliance in many different areas which require the ability to work in detail on a consistent basis. Below are some of the areas in which a company must be an expert and know all the ins and outs to maintain compliance:
Driver qualification process and proper documentation. Ensuring all driver files are done consistently is one of the keys to hiring quality drivers and maintaining the quality of your fleet. Using a checklist is one of the aids that can assist in consistency in compliance.
Hours of Service including ELD’s, log auditing, support documentation requirements, hours of service rules and methodology.
Vehicle maintenance record keeping, required certifications, and other critical items. It is important to consistently document all maintenance of all equipment and ensure all inspections are documented and meet FMCSA requirements. Proper certification for the staff and vendors that are conducting the work and inspections is also very important to document.
Drug and alcohol testing and documentation requirements including pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion, post-accident drug testing. A carrier must ensure all documentation meets FMCSR requirements at all times including record-keeping requirements.
Hazmat carriers requirements are even more stringent and require special knowledge and expertise due to the additional exposures they present to the driver and the motoring public.
